Nose job: common concerns

Is rhinoplasty and a nose job the same thing?
Yep.
Is rhinoplasty a simple surgery?
No. It’s actually quite a tricky one. The nose is a complex organ and the tiniest changes to it can change the entire way it looks and functions. Therefore, you need to pick the best doctor for the job.
How long does it take to recover?
Most people will feel like themselves again one week after surgery and can continue most activities after this time. The swelling can take months to fully resolve, although the worst of that is usually over within two or so months. You should be back to all activities within four weeks.
How much do nose jobs cost?
This completely depends on how complex the surgery will be and how reputable your doctor is. It also depends on where you get it done. In the UK, you’re looking at £4000 to £7000. In the US, $5500. In Australia, anywhere from $8000 to $20000 AUD. And you have to factor in additional costs, like consultations and anaesthesia.
Essentially, it’s best to bear in mind the average figures, but prioritise seeing a doctor who will operate safely and get it right first time. Paying a little extra for an experienced doctor often pays off in the long run.
How do I find a good doctor?
Usually, nose jobs are performed by plastic surgeons or ENT surgeons (otolaryngologists). You want to make sure they’re certified to practice, have lots of experience, and a great reputation amongst both patients and other doctors. Some research publications and working in a reputable hospital also goes a long way.
